Join us at Artscape Theater, as we embark on a vibrant journey through the kaleidoscope of South African culture in “Rainbow Rhythms: Celebrating Our Heritage.” Inspired by the late Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu’s vision of the rainbow nation, this theatrical extravaganza pays homage to our nation’s diverse cultural traditions, communities, and rich heritage.
In full technicolor brilliance, we invite you to unite with us in a celebration of our collective identity, where we embrace each other’s cultures and traditions through the universal languages of song, dance, and poetry.
This spectacular production features an ensemble of iconic, internationally renowned ethno-music specialists, including Hilton Schilder and his Goema band, Dizu Plaatjies and his marimba ensemble, and a captivating troupe of dancers who will leave you spellbound.
Travel back in time with the mesmerizing Riel dancers from Clanwilliam as they showcase the oldest indigenous folk dance of our land. Experience the grace and elegance of Ahneesh Valodia and his Taare Dance Troupe as they dazzle you with Indian costumes and exquisite dance. Remember the legacy of slavery with the haunting melodies of Culture Shock’s Malay choir, and rejoice in our freedom from bondage with the vibrant and colourful Minstrels.

Under the guidance of a dynamic choreographer and the Figure of 8 Dance Collective, we explore the South African narrative through the ages with contemporary interpretations that will leave you awestruck.
